A lesson in Compassion - The Elders

As I said, I would never force you to listen to the everyday going's on of my life, like now, as I sit in sweats and indulge in my love of films...and fashion, via the Golden Globe awards, but I just did, so now you'll have to deal with it.

While I was watching, a couple came on and although I missed his first name and didn't recognize him, I knew he was involved with a film nominated. Rest assured I will find his name very shortly and re-write this but I just need to write this down and share it with everyone. Said fellow was asked about a project he was a Supporter of. (that's supporter with a capital "S" as you see and implies more involvement then joining a facebook group).

The project is called simply, The Elders and fellow Supporters include Sir Richard Branson, Nelson Mandela, Koffi Annan, Muhammad Yunus, Ela Blatt, Graca Machel and the enigmatic Desmond Tutu, who sums up the goals of the The Elders by saying,

"Despite all the ghastiliness that is around, human beings are made for goodness.
The ones who ought ot be held in high regard are not the ones who are militarily powerful, nor even economically prosperous. They are the ones who have a commitment to try and make the world a better place.
We-The Elders-will endeavor to support those people and do our best for humanity."
- Desmond Tutu
I truly believe that by entrusting our deepest concerns for the world's humanity and economy in this collection of fiercly independent, remarkable thinkers of a compassionate mind, we can all work together to address the urgent issues of our World instead of ignoring the giant elephant (or rather, herd of dinasaurs) in the room. Peace. Love. Joy.
